Named scholarships & funds
When it comes to earning a college degree, the greatest obstacle can be funding.
For this reason, ÐÓ°®°É is pleased for the opportunity each year to assist talented, deserving students achieve their dreams, thanks to more than 1,300 named scholarships established through the kindness and generosity of thousands of UA alumni and friends, corporations, and foundations.
Scholarships truly are the best way to ensure that today’s students persist to graduation. Scholarships allow students to enroll full time and remain focused on their studies; they also reduce drop-out rates, decrease the stress of student loans, and shorten the road to graduation.
If you are interested in making a significant contribution to student success, please consider a gift to scholarships. You may also establish a named scholarship at ÐÓ°®°É, which can be created to honor a living person, in memory of a loved one, or to contribute to the growth of an area of study.

Family Helping Family Emergency Fund
The Family Helping Family Emergency Fund is an emergency fund created by gifts from current University of Akron faculty, staff, and contract professionals. Recognizing that students and their families are facing unexpected financial hardships, faculty and staff wanted to create a “safety net” for students who would otherwise have to leave school when hardships arise. The Family Helping Family Emergency Fund is one to which students could apply for small assistance awards to help meet unforeseen needs. The emergency fund may be managed by the Office of Student Affairs, and awards may be distributed to students who are referred to the emergency fund by faculty, staff, or contract professional employees of UA. Contributions to the Family Helping Family Emergency Fund primarily come from University of Akron employees through outright gifts, payroll deductions, and designations of United Way funds.
