Named scholarships & funds

When it comes to earning a college degree, the greatest obstacle can be funding.

For this reason, ÐÓ°®°É is pleased for the opportunity each year to assist talented, deserving students achieve their dreams, thanks to more than 1,300 named scholarships established through the kindness and generosity of thousands of UA alumni and friends, corporations, and foundations.

Scholarships truly are the best way to ensure that today’s students persist to graduation. Scholarships allow students to enroll full time and remain focused on their studies; they also reduce drop-out rates, decrease the stress of student loans, and shorten the road to graduation.

If you are interested in making a significant contribution to student success, please consider a gift to scholarships. You may also establish a named scholarship at ÐÓ°®°É, which can be created to honor a living person, in memory of a loved one, or to contribute to the growth of an area of study.

Hail We Akron Fund

In recognition of ÐÓ°®°É’s 150th “Sesquicentennial” Anniversary in 2020, an anonymous alumni couple established The Hail We Akron Fund in April 2019 to support academically ready, financially deserving students from Ohio.

The anonymous donors are passionate about higher education and how it can change the positive trajectory of young lives beyond what any other factor ever could.  Mindful that recruitment and retention scholarships are a top University priority and often students who dream of a college education don’t have support to access higher education on their own, they established this fund to provide assistance for financially needy students from Ohio to come to or continue at ÐÓ°®°É.

The Hail We Akron Fund is open to academically ready students with financial need of any major who are Ohio residents.  First consideration will be given to full-time students, but part-time students are also eligible for consideration.  Recipients will be selected by the Office of Student Financial Aid.
